Operating out of a mechanic’s workshop by day and transforming into a lively, after-hours taquerias by night, El Vilsito has gained world renown – courtesy of Netflix’s Taco Chronicles.

Popping up at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves and Sydney’s Manly Wharf as part of La Mexicana – a Mexican food festival that will run alongside Artemus Group’s Margarita Week – the takeover will see two El Vilsito chefs work with local teams to serve up their famed tacos (including the al pastor) here in Australia.

“We’ve welcomed so many Australians to El Vilsito over the years, and their love for our tacos has always stayed with us,” Sandro Blanco, daughter of El Vilsito owner Juan Carlos Blanco, said.

“Our family has been making food here for nearly forty years, so being able to bring our chefs and recipes to Australia and cook them in the same way we do at home feels incredibly special. We’re proud to share something that already means so much to so many Australians.”

La Mexicana Week will be celebrated Thursday 5–Sunday 8 March and Thursday 12–Sunday 15 March at Howard Smith Wharves; Thursday 19–Sunday 22 March and Thursday 26–Sunday 29 March at Manly Wharf.
