Merivale’s first Melbourne venue, LB’s Record Bar, is now open in the CBD between Bourke and Little Collins Streets. Led by powerhouse Melbourne bar talent Michael and Zara Madrusan (The Everleigh, Bar Margaux, Heartbreaker), the agave-focused cocktail menu meets a vinyl-only music program hosting local DJs and artists in the former site of Lily Blacks.

“We’ve built LB’s on the foundations of a great bar, with fantastic drinks and music, welcoming service, and a space you’ll (hopefully) never want to leave,” said Justin Hemmes, CEO of the Sydney-based hospitality group, in a statement.

Per the Madrusans’ respected focus on quality control of all elements of their cocktails, various forms of ice feature appear on the menu like perfectly clarified blocks and a snow cone-style Daiquiri.

“Bringing this iconic space back to life with the help of some incredible talent from The Everleigh and Bar Margaux has been incredible and we can’t wait for people to experience it,” said Michael and Zara Madrusan.

Drinks highlights include a unique aerated Martini; La Bestia blending Altos Reposado tequila, coffee blend, mole bitters and salted cream; a South American-focused wine list; and a cute collection of half-sized cocktails priced at $12.

Light, Spanish-style snacks by Merivale’s Melbourne-based executive chef Jowett Yu include tinned seafood, charcuterie, crisps, pickles and focaccia.

The space has a retro feel with the original horseshoe bar, disco balls and warm, glowing lighting, with shelves showcasing the extensive record collection sourced from local independent stores.

LB’s Record Bar is open now at 12 Meyers Place, Melbourne CBD — walk-ins only.
