Bali is probably best known for its beaches and the hustle and bustle of Kuta, which can be a great place for socialising, shopping and bars. But there are plenty of other areas to explore, from the lush tropical countryside surrounding Ubud, to the quiet village of Sidemen on the east side of the island to Canggu’s trendy style on the west, or the relaxed atmosphere of Pectau Village and nearby Bingin beach. So the best place to stay really depends on the type of holiday you want – including the accommodation.
You can find luxury inclusions and service in both Bali resorts and Airbnb properties, but Bali resorts tend to be more suited to those who want an all-inclusive experience and exclusive location with some shared facilities, while Airbnb villas and other properties in Bali often attract travellers who want complete privacy without any other guests. Some travellers also prefer the security of booking with a luxury hotel or resort with a corporate cancellation policy (Airbnb has a cancellation policy but hosts can set some of their own conditions within it). But it’s worth noting many Airbnb villas in Bali often include staff and full-service offerings for an additional fee, and mean you can relax across an entire property without strangers sharing any common areas.
