Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island — or ‘Hamo’ as the locals call it — is one of the Whitsundays’ 74 islands. It’s easy to get to — most major Aussie cities offer direct flights in — and car-free, which adds to its holiday feel. The island’s often considered a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, though, many who visit are there to simply lounge by a pool or ocean and enjoy the tropical weather.

Freycinet National Park
Freycinet National Park is Tasmania’s oldest national park, known for its pink granite mountains, called The Hazards, and the white sands and royal blue and Listerine-coloured waters of Wineglass Bay.
