Two and a half years after its closure due to a landslide which destroyed its only accessible road, Emirates has teamed up with Marriott International to reopen its luxury resort in Wolgan Valley, a remote area near the Blue Mountains.

Since 2006, Emirates has poured $150 million into the resort and will now invest a further $50 million in renovations, working with Marriott International after One&Only Resorts ceased its management contract in June 2023.

Emirates Wolgan Valley – a sprawling 7000-acre site –  will be transformed into the world’s first Ritz-Carlton Lodge, replete with 40 individual lodges boasting private pools and bespoke amenities, as well as an on-site restaurant, lounge bar and wine room.

Guests will be able to immerse themselves in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains region, surrounded by extraordinary wildlife, stunning landscapes and unique, conservation-led experiences.

Recreational spaces will be renovated with wellbeing top of mind, including the signature Ritz-Carlton spa, equestrian stables, tennis courts and outdoor pool.

While the in-road remains an issue, guests will enter the lodge via four-wheel drive or helicopter – something the team say is “part of the rural off-road experience of the resort.”

Emirates Wolgan Valley, Ritz-Carlton Lodge is set to open in mid-2026.
