From plane tickets and travel luggage to gourmet cookware, shiny things often have shiny price tags to match. But with Black Friday 2025 deals now on it’s final weekend stretch, these shiny things are starting to look a little bigger, brighter, and of course, deliciously cheaper.

According to YouGov, 51 per cent of Aussies are planning to hit the Black Friday deals this year, with one in three claiming Christmas is their main focus when shopping the sales.

“Budget-conscious Australians are planning ahead, and for many, Black Friday has become the unofficial start of festive shopping,” said Brendan Straw, Shopfully Country Manager Australia. “With the end of the year already a high-expense period for many households, Black Friday will be a key shopping moment that retailers shouldn’t ignore.”

But with so many brands participating in these top Black Friday deals, with some dropping hundreds as early as November 1, there’s a lot of noise to cut through.

FAQ’s

When is Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2025?

Black Friday is the Friday after the Thanksgiving holiday in the US; this year it falls on 28 November and Cyber Monday follows soon after on Monday, 1 December. Although, some retailers start their sales earlier in the month. Bookmark this page to get regular updates on the sales for 2025

Is Black Friday the cheapest sale of the year?

It is up to the individual retailers discretion whether or not their Black Friday sale tops the rest of their sale calendar, however, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are considered one of the most coveted – and many retailers participate by releasing their best sales during this time. Keep this tab bookmarked for all the info on the best sales once they land.

What is Cyber Monday, and how is it different?

Cyber Monday is a major online shopping day that occurs on the Monday following Black Friday. It was originally focused on exclusive, online-only tech deals. However, many retailers now offer discounts across a wide range of products including travel, home, fashion and beauty. Many retailers extend their Black Friday sales, instead offering a “Cyber Weekend” sale instead of the traditional Black Friday play.

Is it better to buy on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

While Cyber Monday use to be an online-only event, it has become an excuse for retailers to extend their Black Friday sale across the whole weekend. What day is “better” is dependent on what you’re purchasing. For flights and travel, the earlier the better. Some cruise lines, for example, will actually price match to the lower price, which means you won’t risk losing your booking. Appliances and technology are two categories that you can risk waiting out on, as many retailers will slash their prices further towards the tail end of their sale. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

What should I buy during Black Friday sales?

What you choose to buy during Black Friday is entirely up to you – but to help cut through the noise, we asked a few experts for their predictions. “At this time of year, it’s all about others, where customers are on a mission to find the perfect gifts,” says Jennifer Aitchison, Head of Marketing at Koko Black. She notes a growing trend of people using Black Friday as a chance to get their Christmas shopping done early – and at an amazing price.

Other experts agree that Black Friday is also the ideal moment to invest in bigger-ticket upgrades. “It’s a great time of year to replace or upgrade appliances, mattresses and furniture. However, to make the most of the sale, it’s important to look beyond just price,” says James Bartlett, General Manager at Appliances Online. “Focus on value: consider what’s included in that price, or whether it’s just the product.”

“As we approach Christmas and the summer entertaining season, people are increasingly focused on solving the practical challenges they faced in previous years – from tables that were too small, to ovens that couldn’t keep up, or fridges that didn’t have enough space,” adds Kate McGlone, Group Design Manager at Winnings. “The goal is simple: upgrade kitchen and laundry appliances and furniture pieces to make entertaining easier.” She notes rising interest in bar fridges, high-performance ovens and BBQs.
